LASH EXTENSIONS FAQ:

What are eyelash extensions?
They are individual or multiple extensions attached to one individual natural lash. Classic lash extensions are one individual lash attached to your natural lash while Volume lashes are from 3-6 individual extensions attached to one lash. Volume lashes give a full fluffy look while classic has more of a natural look.

How long do extensions last?
It depends on the client’s natural growth cycle, use of skin care products, and the overall care given that will influence how long the extensions remain in place. We recommend coming in every 2-4 weeks for a fill-in.

Do extensions damage natural lashes?
When applied properly they are perfectly safe and don’t cause damage to your natural lashes. The extension applied to your lashes will grow out naturally as your own lash begins the shedding process. The eyelash adhesive is formulated to form a solid bond, specifically designed for human lashes.

How should I prepare for my eyelash extension appointment?
Come with clean, makeup-free lashes! Avoid oil-based makeup remover when cleansing your lashes prior to your appt. Plan to set aside 2-3 hours for your appt. If you have a hard time staying still feel free to bring headphones to listen to music or a podcast!

What precautions can I take to maintain my eyelash extensions?
Follow all the after instructions your technician recommends. Avoid any products with oil, excessive touching/rubbing of your lashes, and excessive amounts of mascara. We also recommend keeping your lash line and extensions clean to avoid build-up of makeup or excessive oil. We recommend using a lash-specific cleanser.

What are the lashes made of and what brand are they?
We use Borboleta lashes and adhesive. The lashes are faux mink. They are made up of unique synthetic yarn fibers which make them super soft and light. The extensions are a deep matte black.

Are the products vegan/cruelty-free?
All of our products are 100% cruelty-free and can be considered vegan. We don't do any testing on animals or use any products from animals in any of our products. All the hair in our brushes is synthetic.

Can I use mascara with extensions?
We recommend trying to avoid putting any products directly on the extensions to maintain lash retention. But if you feel you need to we recommend an oil-free mascara such as Grande Cosmetics.

Do you take foreign fills?:

Yes, there is an additional $20 fee and 15 minutes added to your initial fill in with us if it is considered a foreign fill. We consider a foreign fill a fill-in on a set of lashes that weren’t previously done at beauty bar lash + brow. We want our technicians to have ample amount of time to create the perfect lash style for you and blend our lash extensions with what you currently have, and because of this the timing of the fill may be a little longer.

BODY WAXING FAQ + PREP INSTRUCTIONS

  •  Schedule your waxing services every 4 weeks to reduce the amount of discomfort you may feel. Do not shave, tweeze, or use a depilatory cream.

  • Hair must be ¼" long, which is approx. 14 days of hair growth. If the hair is too short the wax will not remove the hair. Waxing will be more painless and effective if you wait long enough to wax.

  • If your hair has at least 3 months of growth, you can trim slightly with scissors. DO NOT USE TRIMMERS. This will cause the hair to be too short and uneven, possibly resulting in having to reschedule your appointment to a later date.

  • Exfoliate the day before your waxing service (excluding the face), will make your waxing treatment more effective. When exfoliating, use circular movements going up and against the hair growth. Exfoliating will help to reduce and prevent ingrown hairs and make the service more effective. Gloves, dry brush or dry loofah work the best.

  • Avoid scrubs.

  • (OPTIONAL)Take Ibuprofen 1 hour before your waxing service to help reduce pain and inflammation. Please consult a physician before taking any new medications.

  • Do not sunbathe or use a tanning bed 1-2 days prior to your waxing appointment. You will have to reschedule your appointment if you have a sunburn.

  • Avoid caffeine, as it can make your skin more sensitive pre and post waxing.

  • Wear clean, loose clothing before and after receiving any body waxing! This helps ensure the freshly waxed skin can breathe.

Who is brow lamination the best for?

Permanent Makeup

What is Ombré Brows?

Also known as Powder brows or Microshading, it is a form of permanent makeup that creates a powdery, pixelated look.  It is performed using the ‘dotting’ technique for a misty, powdery effect on the client’s brows. It gives a pretty, filled in look.

How does it work?:

A sterile tattooing machine is used to deposit pigment into the skin. This allows the ability to create a natural 3D brow effect. A topical anesthetic is used for comfort and pigment is color matched to each client’s natural brow hair color and skin tone to add immense life-like detail.

How is the shape of the brow decided?:

Each client begins their appointment session having their brows mapped, measured, drawn and analyzed to work with facial structures and brow bone features to help create the perfect brow for your facial shape and desire.

How long does it last?:

Typical permanent makeup eyebrows will last anywhere from 1 to 3 years with the Ombré brow technique, depending on skin type and products used on the brow area. Annual touch ups are encouraged to keep your brows looking fresh!

Is it just one appointment?:

There is an initial 30 minute consultation so you can meet with your technician to ask questions and to have them assess your brows. You then have you 1st and main appointment. There is then a 6-8 week touchup that is required for all permanent makeup services to complete Brows. If past the 8 week mark, additional fees will apply.

How to maintain Ombré after its healed?:

Once you get the required touch up 6-8 weeks after your initial session, you’ll go through another healing cycle, but it will be less intense. You’ll have to repeat the aftercare routine, but after that, you’re set for up to 2 years. Since it is semi-permanent, your brows will start fading after about 9 months, but you don’t have to get it touched up until you feel the need to. Most clients like to get touch ups annually. Be cautious to not avoid touching and itching the brows to help prolong the results. The pigment is injected shallow into the skin and you can pull it out if you pick the scabs.

What to avoid before your appointment?:

•Do not work out the day of the procedure.

•Do not tan or have sunburned face.

•Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil or Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.

•No alcohol or caffeine 24 before the procedure.

•Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

•No tweezing/ waxing at least 24 hours before procedure. Do not put any cream, oil or anything else before the procedure on your skin

  • No makeup in the area for at least 14 days. It can cause irritation or infection.

  • Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating.

  • Avoid long showers, saunas and swimming.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning.

  • Avoid facial treatments until the brows are completely healed.

Day by Day Aftercare:

Days 1-2: Clean Your Brows as Instructed

After the service, the treated skin will ooze lymph. You need to clean it off to prevent infection and minimize scabbing. Gently blot the lymph off with a cotton pad dampened with sterile water, 3-4 times a day. You can wash your face the same day, but wait at least 3 hours after the procedure and avoid the brow area. Wash the lower half of your face the way you usually do, and clean the rest with a wet cotton pad, avoiding the brows.

Days 3-5: Moisturize Your Brows Often

Wash your brows once or twice a day with a mild antibacterial soap. Don’t rub and pat them dry very gently. Start using your aftercare ointment. Apply it every few hours, whenever you feel the area is itchy, and after each wash. The ointment minimizes the scabbing and it protects the area from outside contamination. Make sure you apply a very thin layer – the area needs to breathe and you don’t want to clog the pores.

Days 5-10: Keep Up the Aftercare Routine

Your brows are peeling and they may feel itchy. Be very careful not to touch the scabs and let the area peel off on its own. Keep applying the aftercare ointment and washing your brows as instructed.

Days 10-14: You Can Relax Once the Peeling Stops

Some clients go through a second peeling cycle which is less intense. Once all peeling stops, you can stop following the ease up on the aftercare instructions. You can go back to your normal routine, but you may want to adjust it a bit. Ingredients like retinol and acids speed up the fading of pigments, so you shouldn’t get them on your brows. Exposure to sunlight may also fade your ombré brows, so wear SPF to protect them!

How quickly will the service fade?:

The pace at which your Ombré brows fade depends on factors like:

  • Your body chemistry

  • Sunlight exposure

  • Frequent exposure to salt or pool water

  • Frequent excessive sweating

  • Smoking

  • Skincare products
